Student-Centered Learning

Dreamweaver Concepts--A Quadrant D Approach

Students in the Web Page Design class learn to become webmasters in a unique classroom setting.  Students select a Dreamweaver concept of their choice and learn it independently, using online resources and provided textbooks.  In effect, students become "specialists" in their chosen concepts, learning about these in-depth.  Because students learn independently, the instructor guides them in their quest to discover the practicalities of using these concepts on websites.  The teacher asks students questions to direct their learning, motivates them to explore websites to discover possible techniques employed, yet allows students to experience advances and pitfalls along the way to gain enrichment and the confidence needed to problem-solve as they strive to bring their websites to a level beyond simple beginnings.

Each student then prepares a presentation to give to the entire class to teach their peers about these Dreamweaver specialties.  Presentations to include:

  1. Description of the concept,

  2. Advantages of using such on a website,

  3. Real-time demonstration on how to successfully accomplish the concept,

  4. Detailed handout itemizing each step needed to successfully apply the concept, including screen shots to illustrate each step.

Student Project Schedule

Up to two presenters allowed per day; dates not in bold (3/3-3/17) scored easier (less prep time)

Presentation = 75 pts.
